Iconic figure of the contemporary Greek music and culture, Mikis Theodorakis (1925-2021) was a multi-awarded prolific composer. He wrote more than 1,000 works: an astonishingly large number of classical scores and extremely popular songs loved by audiences all over the world. This piece comes from his legendary music for the theatrical play “Neighbourhood of Angels”, a huge hit of the 1960s.

Clean Monday marks the beginning of the Lenten Season for the Greek Orthodox Church. The customary menu includes, amongst others, crustaceans, mollusks, vegetables, legumes, greens, and pickles. So, oven-baked octopus with pickled capers, fresh flat parsley leaves and EVOO. Grateful to the fishermen of Rodopi for this precious gift from their catch; and for their fantastic traditional recipe too!
