In 2013, acclaimed Greek violinist Leonidas Kavakos and distinguished Italian pianist Enrico Pace collaborated on the award-winning recording of Beethoven’s Complete Sonatas for Violin and Piano. Beethoven composed 10 pieces for this refined instrumental pairing, creating some of chamber music’s finest works. Among them is the beloved Violin Sonata No. 5, later nicknamed “Spring”. A title not given by Beethoven himself, yet one that perfectly reflects the work’s lyrical character.
