Robert Schumann, Papillons/Butterflies, op. 2, No 1.

Music Bites

Considered as one of the most iconic figures of the Romantic era, Robert Schumann (1810-1856) was an astonishingly creative composer, virtuoso pianist, and well-known music critic of his time. Throughout his tormented life, he tried to come to terms with his poor mental health and excruciating physical pain. Although he died very young, Schumann left us a considerable heritage of orchestral compositions, art songs, and piano works, such as his imaginative miniature dance pieces called “Papillons” (1831).
