Multi-awarded composer, conductor, and violist Jordi Savall (1941-) has been active for many decades in various fields of music, uniting in his original cross-cultural projects talented artists from many countries, exploring mostly the music of the Mediterranean region and reviving forgotten pages of the Early Music repertoire. This recording aims at highlighting the shared features of the peoples of this region and promoting the musical image of the authentic “Spirit of the Balkans”.

Introducing one of my favourite legumes: the PGI giant, coloured beans (or “black elephants”), an excellent organic variety with rich, buttery texture from Kastoria. Served with red bell peppers, carrots, celery. Sprinkled with home-made roasted fennel seed oil and extra virgin olive oil.
