Pietro Paolo Borrono (1490-1563) was an Italian composer of the Renaissance. He also won a reputation as a lutenist. He is thought to have served in the court of King François I. He wrote three collections for lute, including various types of compositions: fantasias, dances, and suites. The piece, originally entitled “Tocca, tocca la canella”, is performed by Kiya Tabassian (setar, voice, direction) and the Ensemble Constantinople in the cd “La Porta D'Oriente”.
