Arnold Bax, “Enchanted Summer”.

Leading figure of the British symphonists, Arnold Bax (1883-1953) wrote this long forgotten orchestral tone-poem for chorus and soprano soloists in 1910, drawing inspiration from “Prometheus Unbound”, a lyrical drama by Percy Bysshe Shelley. Although the play was not intended to be staged, Bax managed to create a fantastic “scenic” score combining mystery, drama, and emotionality.

Shining jewels of summer. Strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Joyful jam jars filled with forest flavours, colours, and scents. Vibrant sweetness blended with lemon and orange fragrances, star anise aroma, and subtle vanilla notes. To be paired with freshly baked bread.
