Meat lovers’ day for all Greeks around the world! Let us keep the tradition and celebrate Tsiknopempti (or Charred Thursday) with a juicy organic pork meatloaf, served with oven-baked potatoes and fresh thyme. Enjoy this evening with good music and delicious grilled dishes!
By the way, some Greek organic farms in the Acarnanian Mountains do a great job! Please support local producers and small businesses.

Music Pairing
Nikos Roubanis, “Misirlou” (performed by Tetos Demetriades).
Music Bites
Tetos Demetriades was born in 1897 or 1901 in Constantinople and immigrated in his early twenties to the US, where he died in 1971. He could wear various hats: singer, composer, lyricist, instrumentalist (guitar), record producer, repertoire manager and record labels owner. His performance of “Misirlou” or “Mizirlou” (1927), a song attributed to Greek composer Nikos (Nick) Roubanis, became an international hit. Later, it was rearranged and revisited by various musicians, even by Roubanis himself. In the 1960s, Dick Dale and His Del-Tones gave the original Greek song an instrumental surf-rock twist. Their version was included in Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction” OST in 1994.
