Antonín Dvořák, “Silent Woods”.

Bohemian forests, dreamy landscapes, peaceful lyricism. Antonín Dvořák’s (1841-1904) “Silent Woods” for cello and orchestra is a re-arranged version (1893) of a composition written ten years earlier by the great Czech master. Dvořák’s composition skills were highly appreciated by his peers, as he excelled at turning folk material into romantic music. The piece is performed by star cellist Yo-Yo Ma under the baton of legendary conductor Seiji Ozawa.

Did you know that there are some excellent organic farms growing blueberries in Karditsa? I discovered these tiny sour-sweet pearls in a local bio shop. Suddenly, I felt an irresistible urge to make ice cream at home! This was a première for me! Serving suggestion: fresh blueberries, candied violets, home-made mixed berries sirup. Not a bad idea for a hot summer day, don’t you think?
