 			Music Bites
The main theme of Skalkottas’s (1904-1949) composition, one of the most prominent figures of the 20th century Greek music, is inspired after a traditional Cretan song and dance (pentozalis) called “The Youngmen of Crete/Amidst the Scents of May”. The Cretan violinist Stefanos Triantafillakis (1715-1800) is credited with composing the music for this war dance in the 18th century.
