The main character is Amir, a young Afghani boy whose life goes through major political changes: the fall of his country’s monarchy, the Soviet invasion, the fleeing of the refugees to the US and the rise of the Taliban regime. Touching detail: one of the most popular Afghani sports is (or was) kite flying. The original music of the film was composed by Alberto Iglesias.

Someone is in a playful mood today! Butterflied sardines with finely chopped preserved lemons, served on vine leaves. I don’t know why but when I plated them, they looked like small kites to me! Vibrant kites of high nutritional value, full of omega-3 fatty acids. A flavoursome overture to the Great Lent period and Clean Monday.
